Buying boots online can be tricky, but buying vintage boots online can be even trickier. If the boots are knee-high, make sure to get a measurement of the top circumference, around the widest part of the calf, and the boot shaft height (top of the heel to the top of the boot). With stiff boots such as riding boots, it is important to compare the shaft height to your own legs to make sure the boots will not go up over your knees. It is VERY hard to walk in riding boots that go over your knees!
What are you going to be using the shoes for? Daily wear, just for the night, photos shoot? If you need them for daily wear, make sure to find out if the leather is flexible and is not dried out. Just for the night? Make sure they are secure and you will not have any accidents. If you are just wearing them for a photo shoot, you can get away with wearing very, very old brittle shoes that would not be suitable for daily wear (if you are careful).
