We haven’t quite put our finger on the source of this fascination; we only simply know that it exists. We are a big fan of Big Love, just read the book by Brady Udall, The Lonely Polygamist: A Novel (Fiction, W.W. Norton & Co.) and TLC just recently introduced us to true polygamy voyeurism with their new show Sister Wives. We just can’t stop!
One of our sole sisters, The Shoe Girl, who designs shoes for Harajuku and Betsey Johnson, may have put her finger on this whole polygamy issue. I’m not sure why we never thought of it ourselves, because it makes so much sense.
“Shoe love is a polygamist love…but it’s so good.”
Duh! How many times have we referred to our hoards of shoes as our brood or talked about how fickle and lustful we are for everything platformed, stilettoed, and peep-toed. How often do we use phallic symbols to represent shoes; shaft-size, width, toe-cleavage, etc? We always considered ourselves a shoe whore, but now it all makes sense. It’s like Kody Brown so cleverly explains, “Love should not be divided, and it should be multiplied.”
Thanks the shoe girl for helping us figure it all out. We’ll never apologize for our shoe polygamist lifestyle. We always expected, after all, that there would be other “wives”.
