At my 9-5 job I did a lot of walking into to work. Now that I am working from home I will not be walking near as much. One of the benefits is that my Nike Running shoes should last much longer. A great pair of walking shoes can last a long time when you do not actually wear them outside very often.
I am currently wearing a pair of Nike Air Max 90s and they are holding up amazingly well considering the usage they have gone through while on my feet.
My shoes are still getting used a lot but instead of walking to work and walking around work they now get to travel to various campsites and other cool places such as Shoshone Falls. As much as I like Nike Air Running shoes my next pair of shoes will be a new pair of active outdoor sandals and a pair of shoes designed for hiking and walking in the mountains.
Shoes are designed to fit your lifestyle. You do not see women wearing high heels trying to scale a rock wall as they climb higher and higher. You also do not see Basketball players wearing bowling shoes during and NBA basketball game.
Not that my lifestyle will be more outdoors oriented next year then I need to make the next purchase e of shoes a pair that can adapt and be very versatile for my activities. A rubber nose over the toe of the shoe helps a lot to increase durability. A Vibram or slip resistant sole helps when hiking, and the fabric/mesh combination upper will help my feet to breathe.
Merrell makes many shoes that fit this classification and so my next shoes may be a pair of Merrel active shoes.
I am also very partial to my Nikes so maybe I will simply buy a pair of Nike Air Pegasus and replace them every few months.
